Fallingwater is 550 lot planned residential development of approx. 53 hectares adjacent to Army Road in Pakenham. Ground Control was engaged in 2003 by Pakenham Village Pty Ltd (project Managed by the Gillon Group) to complete the landscape master plan and the detailed design of the first six stages of the development, involving streetscape and creek works. The completion of the project’s five remaining stages, commenced in 2008, was under the direction of Devine Limited.
A feature of the development is the revitalisation of a 1.5 km section of Kennedy Creek from an eroded, neglected and weedy creek with no flood capacity to a re-profiled and revegetated constructed waterway. The new waterway designed by Ground Control in conjunction with Munn Consulting & Watsons, incorporates permanent water ponds and wetlands. The design profile of the new waterway provided a significantly increased cross-sectional storm flow capacity that withstood the flooding rains of February 2011.
The final section of creek construction was completed in 2011 and is now under Melbourne Water maintenance.
Ground Control prepared the landscape master plan for this estate, including assisting with the residential design guidelines for housing and site development. The design thematic incorporated bookleaf stone, concrete and specific colour highlights into the landscape.
